Every funding option, honestly explained
Meet Frank is a neutral directory of SME funding options in South Africa. We list every option we know about, honestly explained and clearly compared.
How Frank makes money
We earn a commission on successful deals — at ZERO cost to the SME. The lender pays us, not you. This means we only succeed when you do.
Some lenders also pay to be listed more prominently. Paid placements are always labelled. No data selling. No hidden referral fees.
Why this exists
Finding funding as a small business in South Africa should not require a finance degree. Every option should be clearly explained, honestly compared, and available in one place.
Most brokers collect your details and claim to find you the "best" option — often without disclosing what they earn from the deal, or why they are pushing one product over another.
Frank works differently. We show you every option we can find, let you filter by what matters to your business, and present the facts clearly. No hidden fees. No undisclosed commissions. No agenda.
You decide what to explore. You decide what to apply for. We just make it easier to see what is out there.
What Info Verified means
When a lender carries the Info Verified badge, it means we have confirmed their product details directly. We have spoken to someone at the company, confirmed their registration details, and reviewed their published product terms. This is a data quality signal, not a recommendation or endorsement of the provider.
Not every lender in the directory is info verified. Unverified lenders may still be legitimate — we simply haven't confirmed their details yet. The badge indicates data completeness, not a judgement on quality.
The Unfunded
Frank is built by the team behind The Unfunded, a newsletter about funding for South African businesses. If you want to understand how funding works, not just find it, start there.
Frequently asked questions
What is Meet Frank?
We list every SME funding option we can find in South Africa. Honestly explained, clearly compared, no hidden partnerships. If it exists and it lends to small businesses, we want it in the directory.
What does Info Verified mean?
Most lenders in our directory are found using AI and public sources. The Info Verified badge means we have confirmed product details directly with the provider — registration, terms, and operational status. Unverified lenders may still be legitimate; we simply haven't confirmed their details yet. This badge indicates data completeness, not a recommendation.
Why only debt funding?
Because that is what most small businesses actually need and can access. Equity and grants have a different process, different timeline, different audience. We may add them later. For now, we do debt well.
